Back-End Engineer, AI

About the role

Deel is looking for a Back-End Engineer specialized in AI to accelerate feature delivery while maintaining high quality and reliability. You will work at the intersection of backend development and AI‑powered tooling, using solutions like Claude to streamline coding tasks and ship production‑grade features for a global payroll and HR platform.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, designers, and QA to define requirements and scope features.
• Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude) to generate boilerplate, scaffolding, and initial implementations.
• Critically review and test all AI‑generated code to ensure security, performance, and maintainability.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that support millions of users across 150+ countries.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and uphold engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in backend engineering principles and software design.
• Experience building reliable, high‑throughput services in a SaaS environment.
• Comfortable working with AI‑assisted development tools and evaluating their output.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively in a distributed team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude.
