Energy Management Engineer

About the role

The Energy Management Engineer will join RINA’s Sustainability and Business Innovation Division in Genova, leading the planning, design and implementation of energy optimisation projects for industrial sites, smart districts and urban energy communities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess energy consumption in industrial, manufacturing and urban contexts.
• Develop energy models, run scenario analyses and perform techno‑economic evaluations.
• Design and deliver energy transition projects such as EMS, smart districts and PEDs.
• Integrate renewable generation, storage systems and demand‑response services.
• Create and use digital tools including digital twins, AI forecasting models and optimisation algorithms.
• Integrate technologies with existing SCADA, IoT and data platforms.
• Participate in EU‑funded pilots, large‑scale initiatives and performance‑monitoring programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in energy assessments, efficiency projects or sustainable energy solutions, preferably in manufacturing, industrial or district environments.
• Experience with EU‑funded energy projects is a plus.

Required skills

• Energy systems modelling at building, district and urban scale.
• Energy optimisation techniques, including machine‑learning based approaches.
• Renewable integration, grid optimisation, waste‑heat recovery and demand‑response services.
• Control systems and EMS/SCADA/IoT integration.
• Knowledge of IEC and ISO standards for smart‑grid interoperability.
• Use of generative AI tools for engineering analysis and documentation.
