Human Resources Associate

About the role

The Human Resources Associate will support the delivery and implementation of HR functions for IOM in Italy and Malta, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant HR processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in recruitment processes, from drafting vacancy notices to conducting interviews and preparing job offers.
• Support pre‑employment activities such as entry‑on‑duty documentation, medical exams, insurance enrollment and induction sessions.
• Maintain HR data in the organisational system, ensure accuracy, verify eligibility for allowances and generate contracts and reports.
• Handle personnel actions including separations, promotions, reclassifications and disciplinary cases, coordinating with regional and Geneva offices.
• Prepare and file HR correspondence, update personnel files and archive documents both electronically and physically.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field with at least three years of relevant experience, or high‑school diploma with five years of experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with HR information or ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Experience in HR management, personnel administration and maintaining confidential records.
• Previous work in an international, multicultural environment, preferably with humanitarian or UN agencies.
