Junior Web Frontend Developer

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Junior Web Frontend Developer to join its globally distributed team. You will help design, build and maintain data‑rich user interfaces for Ubuntu‑based enterprise products, working primarily with JavaScript, CSS, React and the emerging Flutter framework.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test web front‑ends using JavaScript, CSS, React and Flutter.
• Debug and resolve user‑reported issues to ensure a reliable experience.
• Participate in code and architectural reviews as part of the engineering process.
• Collaborate with community contributors and internal colleagues on technical specifications.
• Write and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Suggest and apply improvements to engineering and operational practices.
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Passion for open‑source software and modern web technologies.
• Ability to produce high‑quality front‑end code and contribute to back‑end components.
• Willingness to engage with the broader open‑source community.
