Lecturer in Marine Science

About the role

The University of New South Wales is seeking a Lecturer (Level B) in Marine Science to join its School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will lead high‑quality research, deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and supervise research students in fisheries science and/or biological oceanography.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research in fisheries, marine biogeochemistry, pelagic ecosystems, or related fields.
• Teach and develop curriculum for marine science courses.
• Supervise honours, Masters and PhD students.
• Engage with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Our Future Oceans and national ocean‑modelling initiatives.
• Translate scientific findings into policy recommendations and public communication.

Required profile

• PhD in Marine Science, Oceanography, Fisheries Science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong publication record and ability to secure research funding.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching and student supervision.
• Excellent collaboration skills with national and international partners.
