Legal Counsel – Maternity Cover (Italy)

About the role

Condé Nast Italy is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to cover a maternity leave for up to 12 months. Based at the Milan headquarters, you will report to the Head of Legal, Europe and work within the Legal & Business Affairs Team, providing strategic, commercially‑focused legal advice across multiple business units.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review, negotiate and approve sales agreements and related commercial documentation for standard and bespoke deals.
• Provide legal advice on advertising, sponsorship, licensing, branded content, partnerships and other commercial initiatives.
• Support talent‑related agreements for commercial campaigns, editorial projects, branded content and events.
• Draft and negotiate contracts with talent, agents, production companies, venues, suppliers and event partners.
• Advise on consumer‑facing propositions, digital products, subscriptions, competitions, promotions and audience‑engagement initiatives.
• Guide digital marketing, social media, influencer activity, online advertising and emerging technologies.
• Assist editorial teams with media law, intellectual property and content‑related risks, reviewing content prior to publication.
• Support resolution of claims, disputes, takedown requests and rights‑clearance matters.
• Advise on legal and regulatory aspects of event staging, including permits, insurance and sponsorship arrangements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Counsel, Legal Specialist or similar, either in‑house or at a law firm.
• Admission to the bar is a plus.
• Professional proficiency in Italian and English; additional languages are a strong advantage.
• Strong expertise in commercial, sales, advertising, marketing, media and consumer law.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of intellectual property, digital media, social media, influencer marketing and advertising regulation.
• Experience advising on commercial contracts and content licensing.
