Patent Attorney Specialist

About the role

De Nora is looking for a dedicated Patent Attorney Specialist to join its Global IP Department within the R&D function. Based in Milan, you will support the protection and strategic use of the company’s innovative electrochemical technologies worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and scout inventions and know‑how across the organization.
• Prepare, draft, file, prosecute and defend patent applications worldwide.
• Conduct patentability, freedom‑to‑operate (FTO) assessments and risk analyses.
• Provide strategic IP advice and counsel to business units.
• Support licensing activities and negotiate IP‑related agreements.
• Promote IP awareness through training and by defining IP guidelines and procedures.
• Manage the patent portfolio, reporting and related documentation.
• Perform IP due diligence and support R&D projects with IP expertise.
• Act as the interface between IP and functions such as R&D, Sales, Regulatory, Marketing and Legal.

Required profile

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, industrial chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, material science or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of experience in patent‑related matters, preferably in an industrial or electrochemical environment.
• Qualified or partially qualified European Patent Attorney, or willing to obtain qualification; Italian Patent Attorney qualification is a plus.
