Public Information Intern (UN Field Staff Union)

About the role

The United Nations Field Staff Union (UNFSU) is seeking a Public Information Intern to support its advocacy, communications and membership initiatives. This six‑month, onsite internship in Brindisi offers hands‑on experience with UN staff union work, research, and digital outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on UN policies, staff regulations and administrative issuances affecting field staff.
• Draft position papers, briefing notes and advocacy materials for UNFSU leadership.
• Monitor developments on staff security, conditions of service, mobility and health insurance, providing updates and recommendations.
• Plan, create and publish content for the UNFSU website, newsletters and social media platforms.
• Write, edit and proofread copy; develop multimedia assets such as infographics, short videos, photo stories and presentations.
• Maintain an editorial calendar and manage day‑to‑day website and social media updates.
• Track digital engagement, prepare analytical summaries and support campaign roll‑outs, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility.
• Liaise with UN missions, departments and staff representatives to source stories and align messaging.

Required profile

• Strong background in digital communications and content development.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Ability to work independently under the supervision of the Executive Committee and collaborate with multiple UN stakeholders.
