Senior Backend Engineer (Cloud)

About the role

Garmin is looking for a full‑time Senior Backend Engineer (Cloud) to join a collaborative team that designs and evolves complex cloud applications for the marine technology stack. You will contribute to high‑quality products that serve customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions using Java and related frameworks.
• Collaborate with peers through code reviews, providing constructive feedback.
• Perform technical root‑cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
• Continuously evaluate and improve architecture and performance.
• Deliver software using test‑driven development and automated testing strategies.
• Deploy and manage applications on Azure and AWS platforms.
• Work in cross‑functional teams to achieve product goals.
• Participate in feature analysis and system trade‑off discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing Java applications with Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Proficiency in microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with relational and non‑relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB.
• Familiarity with IDEs, version control (Git/Gerrit), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Team‑oriented mindset and experience with agile methodologies.
