Senior Design Engineer – Crop Processing

About the role

AGCO is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the development of combine harvesters in the crop‑processing area. You will work with an international team to design moderately complex structures and sheet‑metal components that meet high standards for performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop 3‑D and 2‑D parts, assemblies, and mechanisms using a variety of materials and fabrication technologies.
• Create production‑quality fabrication drawings, design documentation, and assembly drawings for new and existing components.
• Manage engineering change requests (ECR‑ECN) using EPDM or similar tools.
• Participate in cross‑functional design reviews with Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing and other teams.
• Collaborate on project schedules and budgets to ensure timely delivery.
• Support product validation, testing activities, and field‑test investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–8 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in agricultural machinery.
• Fluent English (spoken and written) and native‑level Italian.
• Willingness to travel for field tests in Europe and occasional trips to the United States or Brazil.

Required skills

• ProE (Creo) or equivalent 3‑D/2‑D modeling software.
• GD&T methodology and detailed drawing creation.
• Design of sheet‑metal parts, castings, fabricated steel structures, welded and bolted assemblies.
• Design for Manufacturing, material properties knowledge, failure and root‑cause analysis.
• Finite Element Analysis, DEM, CFD, and linkage design.
• Specification of sheaves, belts, and bearings.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools.
