Senior Type Designer

About the role

Landor’s Milan studio is seeking a Senior Type Designer to lead the creation of bespoke typefaces for global brands. You will shape typographic solutions that align tightly with brand strategy and business goals, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and develop custom typefaces for a diverse portfolio of international clients.
• Oversee the full typographic creation lifecycle—from concept and client pitching to production and final font mastering.
• Act as the primary liaison and expert advisor to clients and internal teams, delivering compelling presentations that articulate design decisions and value.
• Collaborate with strategists, brand designers, finance, legal, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• Maintain exceptionally high standards of typographic craftsmanship and technical excellence.
• Contribute to thought leadership and stay at the forefront of branding, typographic trends, and technology.
• Lead the development of multilingual fonts, ensuring cultural sensitivity and linguistic accuracy across diverse writing systems.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple global engagements.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level track record in type design with a world‑class portfolio.
• Deep understanding of commercial applications of typefaces and ability to align typography with brand strategy.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and delivering high‑quality outcomes.
• Strong creative vision combined with meticulous attention to detail.
