Smart Eyewear Product Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Product Design Engineer to lead the development of our Smart Eyewear project. You will join a multidisciplinary team at EssilorLuxottica and be involved from concept through to mass‑production launch, shaping innovative eyewear that combines cutting‑edge optics with advanced electronics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of complex smart eyewear systems, creating 3D models and detailed CAD drawings.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, UX specialists, quality and manufacturing teams to ensure aesthetic and functional excellence.
• Develop, build, test and refine prototypes and characterization test rigs.
• Apply state‑of‑the‑art technologies to solve mechanical challenges and drive design innovation.
• Support vendor visits and engineering builds, providing technical guidance throughout the product development cycle.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical or mold design within an industrial environment.
• Proven ability to work across the full product development lifecycle, from idea generation to final product release.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a proactive and creative approach.

Required skills

• Parametric 3D CAD software (preferably Creo).
• PDM systems experience (preferably Windchill).
• Knowledge of injection molding design and processes.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) expertise.
• Statistical tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning and geometric tolerance techniques.
