Mechanical Design & R&D Engineer

About the role

This position offers a Mechanical Design & R&D Engineer the chance to work within an international engineering and automation environment, developing innovative automated machinery for a range of industries. The role is based in Italy and involves close collaboration with teams in Spain, China and other locations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and optimise automated machinery and mechanical systems.
• Lead projects from concept through design, prototyping, testing and validation.
• Create 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with automation engineers on mechanical integration and equipment debugging.
• Participate in prototype development, field trials and equipment commissioning.
• Analyse technical problems and devise practical engineering solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation, test reports and manufacturing documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Professional experience in mechanical design and development of automated machinery.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in an international engineering environment.
• Willingness to travel for prototype testing and commissioning.
