Medical Science Liaison – Ophthalmology (Italy)

About the role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will act as the field‑based extension of the Medical Affairs team, supporting a Phase III trial for dry AMD/Geographic Atrophy in Italy. The role focuses on building scientific relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators and ophthalmology professionals, especially those specializing in retinal diseases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical and technical education to the ophthalmology community and deliver scientific presentations.
• Support awareness, enrollment and retention for the Phase III clinical trial, identifying and recommending trial sites.
• Develop and execute KOL engagement plans, organize investigator meetings and recruitment events.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of GA/Dry AMD and respond to unsolicited medical information requests.
• Document field activities, adhere to SOPs and regulatory guidelines, and report KOL interactions.
• Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development and Clinical Operations teams and participate in conferences and advisory boards.

Required profile

• Terminal degree (M.D., Ph.D., PharmD, DO or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience in ophthalmology and at least 1 year as an MSL or Clinical Trial Liaison.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
