Senior Controls Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Controls Engineer at Bosch Group in Florence, you will lead the maintenance, improvement and optimisation of advanced control systems across machines, robots, vision and measurement programmes. You will work autonomously on complex automation challenges and provide technical guidance to the wider maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, improve and optimise control systems for machines, robots, vision inspection and measurement programmes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex programming issues in PLC‑based automation equipment.
• Design, develop and optimise control concepts for automated equipment and production lines.
• Debug and enhance robot‑to‑PLC interface programmes to ensure seamless integration.
• Support maintenance teams in diagnosing equipment issues and implement process improvements for efficiency, reliability and safety.
• Provide hands‑on training and technical guidance to technicians and maintenance personnel.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging technologies, software and hardware relevant to industrial automation.
• Execute special projects and assignments as directed by management.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Minimum five years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing or automation environments.
• Advanced knowledge of PLC programming and industrial control systems.
• Experience with robotics, vision inspection systems and measurement programmes.
• Ability to work Monday‑Friday with flexibility for urgent production support outside standard hours.
