Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank is seeking a Lawyer specialised in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. The role involves representing the Bank in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union and providing expert legal advice on EU‑law matters affecting the Bank’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, notes and opinions on complex institutional and EU law issues.
• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Conduct legal research and studies across the division’s areas of responsibility.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work and maintain contacts with internal counterparts.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legal developments and build relationships with external legal advisers.
• Contribute to any other activities relevant to the division’s work.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor, preferably Master’s level).
• Bar qualification or Master’s in EU law is a strong asset.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in EU institutions, international law firms or EU litigation.
• Deep knowledge of EU law and institutional matters.
• Very good knowledge of standard computer tools and EU‑law databases.
• Excellent command of English and/or French.
