Engineering Assistant – Water & Wastewater

About the role

The United Nations Global Service Centre in Brindisi is seeking an Engineering Assistant to support the Environmental Technical Support Unit’s Water and Wastewater Pillar. The role involves assisting the Chief ETSU in implementing the Environment Strategy for Peace Operations, including technical assistance and field deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the project management team in planning, scheduling and supervising construction, repair and installation of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Coordinate site activities, ensure contractor compliance with quality, health, safety and environmental standards, and conduct inspections and commissioning.
• Prepare technical specifications, construction drawings, bills of quantities and cost estimates for bidding packages.
• Carry out site visits, technical and risk assessments, and support data collection and cost analysis of existing infrastructure.
• Liaise with project stakeholders, provide regular status updates and contribute to proposal drafting.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience in water and wastewater projects.
• Ability to work under the supervision of senior staff and travel to remote field locations as required.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Required skills
