Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Auditor will join the Audit Advisory and Professional Practices Unit of the Office of the Inspector‑General at FAO headquarters. The role focuses on delivering audit assurance and advisory services that support the Director‑General, the Oversight Advisory Committee and FAO governing bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute audit assurance and advisory engagements from initial planning through final reporting.
• Prepare and review electronic working papers using TeamMate to document observations and conclusions.
• Draft clear, concise audit reports and present findings to the Inspector‑General and senior FAO management.
• Provide specialist advice to managers across the organization on audit‑related matters.
• Participate in special reviews, project assessments and organization‑wide working groups.
• Promote capacity development and on‑the‑job training for internal audit staff.
• Contribute to the Internal Audit Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme and update the Internal Audit Manual.
• Support the development and enhancement of internal audit tools and methodologies.

Required profile

• Professional experience in internal auditing.
• Familiarity with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and IIA standards.
• Ability to conduct comprehensive audit engagements and produce high‑quality reports.
• Strong analytical and presentation skills.
• Willingness to rotate between audit units and work in a multinational environment.
