Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor – Intellectual Disability Mental Health

About the role

The University of New South Wales is seeking a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to lead research, teaching and clinical capacity building in intellectual and developmental disability mental health. The role will be based at the Kensington Campus and will work closely with NSW Health, government agencies and community stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic and strategic leadership for a translational, co‑designed research programme focused on mental health outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate education, both face‑to‑face and online, in disability mental health.
• Mentor emerging researchers and supervise postgraduate students.
• Engage with external partners, including health services, policy makers and lived‑experience groups, to strengthen research impact.
• Contribute to teaching and research activities within the Discipline of Psychiatry and Mental Health at UNSW Medicine & Health.

Required profile

• MBBS/MD, PhD or equivalent with distinguished experience in psychiatry, psychology or a related health discipline.
• Extensive experience working with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
• Proven record of high‑impact research and scholarly publications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver education and training programmes.
• Strong relationships with government, health services and community organisations.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract (0.5–1.0 FTE) until 23 April 2027.
• Salary range AUD 155,000 – 185,000 per year plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
