Data Engineer – Cloud Data Platform (Milan)

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our global Cloud Data Platform team in Milan. You will support the design, development and operation of data pipelines that feed sales, customer and marketing analytics across the luxury retail business.

Key responsibilities

• Understand business and technical requirements to evolve data models and drive digital transformation, focusing on customer intelligence and sales KPIs.
• Design, maintain and enhance high-quality, certified datasets that are easily accessible for enterprise users.
• Develop, deploy and manage automated data pipelines using Azure, Databricks, Unity Catalog and Git‑based CI/CD.
• Implement data quality, governance and cataloguing processes in line with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to build scalable, agile solutions and continuously improve existing pipelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or a related STEM field.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in data operations, big‑data and cloud platforms.
• Strong background in retail analytics, especially sales and customer KPI modeling.
• Fluent in English and Italian, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure services (including Azure Event Hubs).
• Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables.
• SQL and Spark (Scala/PySpark).
• Git‑based CI/CD pipelines.
• Microservices and API development (REST, OAuth).
• Stream‑processing technologies (Spark Streaming, lambda architecture).
• Data‑warehouse modeling, big‑data concepts and data governance.
