Safety Manager – Lead Safety Culture Across Multiple Sites

About the role

Group O is seeking a Safety Manager to champion a proactive safety culture across office, production, manufacturing and warehousing environments. The role blends strong technical safety knowledge with people‑focused leadership to make safety practical, understandable and sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver safety training and awareness programs.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Department of Labor, workers’ compensation).
• Identify, assess and mitigate workplace hazards, unsafe conditions and behaviours.
• Investigate injuries and near‑misses, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage Right‑To‑Know programs for hazardous chemicals and maintain required safety records, including OSHA 300 logs.
• Prepare reports, charts and analyses to support risk assessment and safety planning.
• Develop strategic safety plans to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Oversee workers’ compensation claims and early Return‑to‑Work programs.
• Support hygiene programs such as noise surveys, personal exposure monitoring and ventilation assessments.
• Respond to customer quality‑certification surveys and manage the annual safety budget.
• Travel daily to various sites within the IL Quad Cities and occasionally to locations in IN, PA and TX.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
• Ability to communicate the “why” behind safety practices to employees and leaders.
• Experience working with regulatory agencies, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and capable of balancing technical and relational aspects of safety management.
