Health & Safety Manager

About the role

The Health & Safety Manager leads the Club team in maintaining a safe facility, ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies, and delivering training so staff operate confidently and safely. This role also oversees the lifeguard team and drives facilities management across the club.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily club walk‑rounds, checking cleanliness, maintenance, health & safety standards and engaging with members.
• Review and sign off daily compliance checks, pool water quality tests, and disability assistance device inspections.
• Lead weekly HOD meetings, manage defect logs, and ensure timely payroll and schedule optimisation.
• Oversee monthly lifeguard rotas, licensing compliance, training programmes, and risk assessments (including legionella, COSHH, fire and site‑specific assessments).
• Perform annual self‑audits, licensing audits, child safety mapping, crisis management updates and GDPR audits.

Required skills

• Pool water quality testing and microbiological sampling.
• Legionella risk assessment and control.
• AED maintenance and training.
• Lift alarm inspection.
• GDPR audit procedures.
• Use of MyEcolab service platform.
• RLSS online portal for lifeguard certification.
• Learning Locker learning management system.
• Conducting comprehensive safety and risk assessments (including COSHH).
