Senior Data Scientist - GenAI

About the role

A recruitment agency is hiring on behalf of its client, an insurtech, for a Senior Data Scientist to join its AI team in Milan. The aim is to bring ML and GenAI solutions to the core of operations such as claims, underwriting and customer support, collaborating with data scientists, engineers and business leaders to deliver AI-driven products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of ML and GenAI solutions, from problem framing and data exploration to production deployment
• Maintain high technical standards across several AI initiatives, ensuring quality, scalability and consistency
• Mentor fellow data scientists, provide structure to the way of working and drive a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement

Required profile

• Extensive experience in data science or applied machine learning, leading end-to-end initiatives in complex domains with measurable business impact
• BSc or MSc in a STEM field
• Strong analytical and quantitative mindset, and ability to communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
• English and Italian proficiency

Required skills

• Python with strong proficiency and knowledge of coding best practices
• ML model building with frameworks such as Scikit-learn and XGBoost
• Familiarity with GenAI LLMs via APIs such as OpenAI GPT or Gemini

• Performance-based bonus of up to 7.5% of fixed salary (€55,000 - €75,000 per year)
