Enterprise IT Architect - Card and Payment Systems

About the role

Fiserv, a global fintech and payments company, is looking for an Enterprise IT Architect in Milan. You will act as the technical authority and solution architect for an Italian client's card and payment systems, and as the front-line technical lead for the client. The role combines strategic system design, architectural governance and hands-on support, covering all technical queries, incidents and enhancements with minimal business impact.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the overall technical architect for the VisionPLUS card processing platform and its integrations
• Serve as the primary senior technical contact for the client, handling complex queries, escalations and design discussions
• Lead major incident management, including diagnostics, cross-team coordination and root-cause analysis, with hands-on support for critical production issues in online and batch processing
• Design and govern distributed-to-mainframe integrations, including APIs and middleware; review and approve technical changes, enhancements and release plans
• Mentor Advisor- and Engineer-level team members
• Work with product owners, operations, infrastructure and vendor teams to deliver systems that meet 24x7 availability, performance and security requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on resilience, automation and technical debt reduction

Required profile

• Extensive experience with VisionPLUS in a cards and payments processing environment
• Deep understanding of card lifecycle processing (authorisation, clearing, settlement, billing, disputes)
• Proven experience in production support, incident management and root-cause analysis in 24x7 environments
• Fluent spoken and written Italian and English
• Willingness to take part in out-of-hours support for critical incidents

Required skills

• Mainframe technologies: CICS and DB2 (schema design, performance analysis, data troubleshooting)
• API-based and event-driven integrations with mainframe systems
• Preferred: knowledge of Swagger/OpenAPI, ITIL-aligned incident, problem and change management, and experience supporting high-revenue clients under strict SLAs
