Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Ophthalmology (Retinal) – Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specialized in ophthalmology and retinal care to join its team in Naples, Florida. The APRN will provide comprehensive medical care to patients, working both independently and collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complete physical examinations and detailed health histories for patients of all ages.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relevant to ophthalmic and retinal conditions.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments and monitor patient response.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring physiologic stability and disease prevention.
• Facilitate patient transitions across care settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to make referrals and provide patient and family education.
• Maintain compliance with university, state, and federal regulations and safeguard institutional assets.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing with an approved ARNP curriculum.
• Minimum two years of relevant clinical experience.
• Florida licensure as an ARNP and board certification from ANCC or AANP.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound clinical judgment, prioritize tasks under pressure, and work both independently and as part of a team.
