Android Automotive Staff Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Engineer specialized in Android Automotive to lead the design and implementation of next‑generation in‑vehicle software for a major OEM. You will own the full software stack, from low‑level vehicle integration to high‑end user interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for Android Automotive architecture.
• Lead development across the full stack, including VHAL implementation, system‑level integration, and UI layers.
• Develop custom vehicle properties using VHAL, HIDL/AIDL and integrate CAN/Ethernet communication.
• Design and implement in‑car user‑facing features with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Ensure robust integration between Android framework components and vehicle ECUs, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams.
• Support performance, stability and maintainability of the AAOS stack.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, scalability and software quality standards.
• Define best practices for testing, debugging and CI/CD in an automotive context.
• Mentor team members and promote technical excellence.

Required profile

• Strong experience with AOSP and deep understanding of Android Automotive OS architecture.
• Hands‑on experience with VHAL, HIDL/AIDL and vehicle communication interfaces such as CAN or Ethernet.
• Proficient in Kotlin and solid C++ skills for system‑level development.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and modern UI development principles.
• Good knowledge of Android development tools (Android Studio, Soong, Make, Bazel, adb, logcat, dumpsys).
• Understanding of embedded software integration in automotive environments.
• Ability to work across platform, middleware and application layers.
