Area Production Manager – Vegetable Seeds

About the role

We are looking for an Area Production Manager to lead vegetable seed production for BASF’s Agricultural Solutions business. The position oversees the Parma, ID and Holtville, CA sites, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality seed while supporting sustainable farming practices.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the production plan to meet seed volume targets on schedule.
• Advise on the producibility of new varieties and recommend optimal production locations.
• Maintain and optimise production infrastructure, both on‑site and with contracted growers.
• Manage acceptance and rejection of supplier lots in coordination with Global Production and QA.
• Implement and monitor crop‑management SOPs for internal teams and third‑party growers.
• Build and negotiate contracts with a reliable network of growers and third‑party partners.
• Ensure genetic purity and quality through field supervision, data collection, and QA collaboration.
• Handle production data, produce monthly reports and suggest improvements.
• Lead site operations including EHS compliance, audits, training and Management of Change.
• Oversee departmental resources such as staffing, training, equipment and budget (CAPEX/OPEX/headcount).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in seed production, preferably with biennial crops.
• Previous people‑leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of vegetable seed crops and local growing practices.
