Associate Medical Director – Rheumatology (EMEA)

About the role

The (Associate) Medical Director will provide medical support and advice for clinical trials and safety evaluation within the PPD Pharmacovigilance department. This role leads medical activities across the study lifecycle, ensuring scientific rigor and patient safety for rheumatology programs in the EMEA region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership to study teams, including creation and review of clinical trial protocols, amendments, and related documents (CSRs, ICFs, CRFs).
• Conduct real‑time medical monitoring of studies, ensuring validity of primary endpoints and early identification of safety issues.
• Serve as the chief liaison between the sponsor and all internal PPD departments throughout all study phases.
• Educate investigator sites through protocol‑specific lab procedure presentations and training sessions.
• Act as the primary medical point of contact for investigators, IRBs, Health Authorities, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure study compliance with relevant SOPs and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve day‑to‑day trial issues and support site queries.

Required profile

• Medical background with experience in clinical trial leadership.
• Proven experience in pharmacovigilance and safety evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of GCP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in rheumatology clinical studies is preferred.
