Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Qascom is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join its Software Engineering Team at the headquarters in Cassola, Italy. You will contribute to the design, development, testing and deployment of critical software applications for space missions and governmental services, including GNSS interference monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy distributed systems for data collection, storage and visualization.
• Maintain and evolve a complex distributed system for GNSS interference monitoring, ensuring high availability under SLA.
• Produce technical documentation following ESA/ECSS, GSWS, ETSI and related standards.
• Implement and operate Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and fine‑tuned Large Language Models in production.
• Manage system infrastructure and DevOps activities, including monitoring, troubleshooting and fixing infrastructure‑related issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering.
• Professional experience developing and maintaining complex production applications under SLA.
• Experience with relational databases and containerisation (Docker required, Kubernetes a plus).
• Good knowledge of web‑application development, security principles and object‑oriented design.
• Eligibility for National Security Clearance and proficiency in written and spoken English.
