Biomethane Business Developer

About the role

Axpo Servizi Produzione Italia is seeking a proactive Biomethane Business Developer to lead the growth of its biomethane portfolio. You will work closely with the Business Development team, driving both M&A and greenfield projects from concept to execution.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, originate, and evaluate acquisition targets and co‑development opportunities in the biomethane sector.
• Manage the full M&A cycle, including screening, due diligence, negotiation, and deal closing.
• Maintain a live pipeline of opportunities through market intelligence, networking with agricultural producers and independent developers.
• Prepare investment cases, financial models, and risk assessments to support internal decision‑making.
• Develop deep knowledge of permitting processes (grid injection, certificates, environmental authorisations) and act as the internal reference for regulatory changes.
• Coordinate with consultants, legal advisors, and public authorities to secure permits and manage incentive schemes (PNRR, tariffs, etc.).
• Build and nurture relationships with landowners, cooperatives, municipalities, energy suppliers, off‑takers, and industry bodies.
• Represent the company at industry events and forums to enhance market presence.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of business development experience, preferably within biomethane, biogas or renewable energy.
• Proven track record of originating and closing deals or development projects.
• Hands‑on experience with biomethane permitting processes and incentive schemes.
• Strong commercial instinct and excellent negotiation abilities.
• Fluent in Italian and proficient in English (B2 level or higher).

• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholder relationships.
