Brake Ducts Design Engineer

About the role

The Visa Cash App RB F1 Team, one of the two Red Bull-owned F1 teams, is looking for a motivated brake ducts design engineer in Faenza. You will design components that meet packaging and specification requirements, mainly producing detailed designs of composite components within the brake duct perimeter, with end-to-end responsibility for subsystems and components.

Key responsibilities

• Work with minimal supervision from Senior Designers and the Team Leader, and liaise with internal and external development partners
• Support the Team Leader in aligning design specifications with vehicle-level KPIs and agreed development partner targets
• Execute concept and detailed design, including hand calculations and high-quality detail drawings, balancing performance and manufacturability within the technical rulebook
• Monitor technology developments, prepare documentation for component testing and trackside operations, and manage quality issues during production and on-track faults
• Collaborate with concept, vehicle performance, aerodynamics and FEA teams, and develop relationships with suppliers and technical partners
• Work with reliability and quality assurance teams, provide remote support from the factory during selected races, and identify process improvements
• Oversee external design consultants and act as a role model for the company's values

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Relevant automotive/motorsport design experience in composites and brake cooling; top-level motorsport and Formula 1 experience highly desirable
• Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of Italian is an advantage
• Good knowledge of metallic materials and solid understanding of composite materials and their manufacturing processes
• Proven ability to manage tasks under high pressure, clear communication, initiative and strong collaboration skills
• Availability to work occasionally on weekends from the factory for race support

Required skills

• Siemens NX CAD software preferred; Catia or Creo also acceptable
• Ability to scope and define new tasks
