Cab Interiors Design Engineer

About the role

The Cab Interiors Design Engineer will join the Product Engineering department, focusing on automotive plastic components and dashboard/instrument panel systems. You will develop interior trim parts from concept through production, ensuring they meet performance, quality, cost and schedule targets.

Key responsibilities

• Define technical specifications for plastic interior trim components, especially dashboards and instrument panels, during concept and feasibility phases.
• Lead 3D/2D design activities, ensuring proper packaging, styling feasibility, functional integration and compliance with project requirements.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacturing and assembly principles for injection‑molded parts, including ribs, bosses, clips, tolerances, draft angles and tooling feasibility.
• Manage component development from concept to design release, validation, launch and issue resolution while monitoring quality, cost, weight and timing.
• Collaborate with styling, ergonomics, safety, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, testing, suppliers and engineering service providers.
• Support prototype build, testing, validation, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, CAD data, technical specifications, release documents and lessons learned.
• Coordinate external work packages with co‑design companies and suppliers, reviewing deliverables for alignment with internal standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in automotive plastic component design, preferably dashboards, instrument panels or interior trim.
• Strong knowledge of plastic materials, injection molding technologies, tooling constraints and component validation processes.
• Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
