Certification Lead Auditor – Sustainability & GHG Protocol (Bologna)

About the role

RINA is seeking a Certification Lead Auditor specialized in sustainability and the GHG Protocol to join its Mediterranean & Africa Certification Division in Bologna. The role will plan, conduct and manage audits for various certification schemes, ensuring compliance with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, manage and oversee the audit program in line with organisational objectives.
• Review customer management system documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Plan and organise audit activities, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Lead audit execution, conduct interviews, collect evidence and evaluate management system implementation.
• Identify, assess and classify audit findings, including non‑conformities and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports with clear conclusions and recommendations.
• Monitor post‑audit activities, ensuring timely closure of non‑conformities and verification of corrective actions.
• Perform technical reviews of audit documentation to support certification decisions.
• Maintain professional competencies and stay updated on evolving sustainability standards.
• Evaluate auditor performance and ensure accurate data management.
• Lead technical discussions with clients and address their technical requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or Management.
• Minimum 3 years of experience auditing management systems against international standards (e.g., ISO) or consulting in the same domain.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks such as ISO 14064, ISO 14068, GHG Protocol and BIOC.
• Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology; knowledge of ISO 14067 and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) is a plus.
• Solid understanding of the full audit lifecycle and ability to define effective corrective actions.
