Chief of Risk Analysis and Preparedness (P-5) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Chief of Risk Analysis and Preparedness leads UNICEF’s global risk‑analysis agenda, providing strategic leadership and high‑level advisory support to ensure that humanitarian risks are systematically identified, analysed and turned into actionable preparedness and anticipatory actions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and coordination for UNICEF’s risk analysis, preparedness, anticipatory action and disaster risk financing programmes.
• Support the Deputy Director in corporate decision‑making, prioritising resources and investments based on forward‑looking risk assessments.
• Supervise the Risk and Preparedness Unit, guiding a small team of professionals.
• Lead horizon‑scanning and forward‑looking humanitarian risk analyses, promoting predictive analytics, AI‑enabled monitoring and geospatial analysis.
• Collaborate with the Foresight team to strengthen scenario‑based modelling and forward‑looking methodologies across headquarters, regional and country offices.
• Ensure effective coordination with other risk‑related units to improve overall risk management and preparedness for humanitarian response.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in humanitarian risk analysis, preparedness and anticipatory action.
• Proven leadership and advisory experience within UN agencies or comparable international organisations.
• Strong understanding of disaster risk financing and strategic resource allocation.
• Ability to work collaboratively across global, regional and country levels.
