Child and Youth Program Direct Care Supervisor

About the role

The Child and Youth Program (CYP) Direct Care Supervisor supports the facility Director by providing day‑to‑day supervisory oversight, instruction, and support to Direct Care Professionals working in Child Development Centers (CDC) and School Age Care (SAC) programs. This position ensures that program operations run smoothly, safely, and in line with developmentally appropriate standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and prioritize work for staff, ensuring tasks match staff capabilities and program needs.
• Conduct annual performance reviews, address disciplinary issues, and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Supervise a team of direct‑care professionals and volunteers, handling staffing, training, promotions, and recognition.
• Validate classroom opening/closing procedures and perform regular physical checks of classrooms and activity areas.
• Coordinate and supervise field trips, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Conduct quality‑assurance checks on classroom records and ensure implementation of special‑needs programs.
• Assist with surveys, needs assessments, and program improvement initiatives.
• Guide staff in medication administration and support program operations as required.

Required profile

• Proven supervisory experience in a child‑care or educational setting.
• Knowledge of child development principles and ability to implement age‑appropriate programming.
