CMF Designer – Automotive (Gothenburg)

About the role

FD Group is looking for a CMF Designer specialized in automotive to join its team and work on‑site at a leading vehicle manufacturer in Gothenburg, Sweden. The professional will be responsible for creating colour, material and finish concepts that support the client’s styling vision and brand positioning throughout the vehicle development process.

Key responsibilities

• Define and develop CMF concepts for vehicle interior and exterior, aligned with styling and brand goals.
• Research market trends, innovative materials and manufacturing processes applicable to automotive applications.
• Select and develop colour palettes, materials and finishes, assessing technical and production feasibility with suppliers.
• Create samples, mood boards and CMF documentation to support concept and product development phases.
• Collaborate with Design, Engineering and Purchasing teams to ensure CMF consistency across the vehicle program.
• Maintain and update the materials and finishes library, ensuring traceability and compliance with quality standards.
• Support presentation and validation of CMF concepts with internal stakeholders and adhere to project milestones.

Required profile

• Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Fashion Design or related discipline with a CMF focus.
• Proven experience in CMF design for automotive or related sectors such as consumer electronics or luxury goods.
• Strong knowledge of automotive‑relevant materials, processes and finishes (plastics, fabrics, leathers, metals, paints).
• Ability to interpret market trends and translate them into product‑ready concepts.
• Fluent written and spoken English; on‑site availability in Gothenburg.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience using KeyShot or equivalent visualisation tools.
• Ability to produce CMF technical documentation (colour books, material specification sheets, finish standards).
