Controlling Manager

About the role

The Controlling Manager will ensure the accuracy, integrity and efficiency of the company’s financial operations while providing strategic insight to support business decisions. Based in Milan, the role acts as a key partner to senior management, driving profitability, cost control and sustainable growth through data‑driven analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and coordination of annual budgets, forecasts and long‑term financial plans.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and year‑end closing activities, guaranteeing timely and accurate reporting.
• Ensure compliance with group accounting principles, reporting standards and internal procedures.
• Produce financial analyses, management reports and presentations to aid decision‑making.
• Monitor business performance using financial and operational KPIs, analyse variances and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support profitability analysis, business case development and financial simulations for strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with department heads to strengthen cost‑control processes and optimise operating expenses.
• Work closely with HR to monitor personnel costs, headcount planning and salary reviews.
• Oversee treasury activities and approve payments related to purchase orders, invoices and payroll, ensuring adherence to internal authorisation policies.
• Serve as the primary liaison between local Finance and Group Finance teams to align reporting, compliance and strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Significant experience in financial controlling, budgeting and reporting, preferably within retail or luxury sectors.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work cross‑functionally with finance, operations and HR.
• High level of integrity and commitment to financial governance.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and group accounting policies.
• Proficiency in financial planning and analysis tools.
• Advanced Excel modelling and reporting capabilities.
• Understanding of treasury processes and payment authorisation procedures.
