Cybersecurity Architect

About the role

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) seeks a Cybersecurity Architect to support the Local Informatics Security Officer (LISO) in ensuring robust security controls across its information systems and IT infrastructure. The role involves technical advisory, security assessments, and reporting to help JRC meet EU digital transformation and security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide architectural advice on JRC systems and underlying infrastructure, recommending design‑level security improvements.
• Conduct security assessments of information systems and cloud environments (AWS, Azure) in collaboration with developers and system managers.
• Identify, prioritize, and verify remediation of vulnerabilities using continuous assessment tools.
• Produce periodic security‑evaluation reports, including executive summaries and detailed technical findings.
• Deliver ad‑hoc technical advice on emerging threats and mitigation strategies to the LISO and system owners.
• Interact with system developers, IT service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure proper implementation of security controls.

Required profile

• Strong experience designing secure information‑system architectures for both traditional datacentres and cloud platforms.
• Hands‑on expertise with continuous vulnerability‑assessment processes and tools.
• Proven ability to draft clear, comprehensive security assessment reports for technical and business audiences.
• Excellent analytical skills for diagnosing security issues and evaluating mitigation options.
