Director of Finance (Pre-Opening)

About the role

The Director of Finance will act as a strategic partner to the General Manager and owners, leading the financial set‑up for the pre‑opening of Capella Florence. This senior position is responsible for safeguarding assets, driving profitability and establishing robust financial policies in a luxury hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the pre‑opening budget, ensuring spend stays within approved limits.
• Oversee all finance functions, including reporting, analysis, internal controls and compliance.
• Prepare monthly forecasts, annual operating and capital expenditure budgets, and monitor cash position.
• Ensure timely monthly reconciliations of all balance‑sheet accounts.
• Control labour costs, plan vacations and minimise overtime while complying with local employment laws.
• Advocate finance policies to the Guidance Team and department heads.
• Foster collaboration with other departments and maintain a positive team environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CPA/CA preferred.
• 8–12 years of progressive finance leadership experience in luxury hospitality.
• Fluent English; knowledge of Italian business legislation and Italian language is an advantage.
• Proven track record of driving financial performance in high‑end hotel or resort settings.
