Director of IT

About the role

We are seeking a visionary Director of IT to lead the technology function of Mandarin Oriental’s new luxury hotel in Rome. The role will shape the IT strategy, ensure seamless operation of all guest‑facing and back‑office systems, and foster a culture of innovation and high performance across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an IT strategy aligned with operational goals, guest experience standards and long‑term business objectives.
• Oversee daily operation and security of network infrastructure, servers, Property Management System (PMS), Point‑of‑Sale (POS), telephony, Wi‑Fi and other guest‑facing technologies.
• Implement and maintain robust data protection and cybersecurity measures, ensuring compliance with GDPR, PCI‑DSS and other regulatory requirements.
• Lead IT projects and system upgrades, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to minimise disruption.
• Provide responsive IT support to all departments, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
• Manage the IT budget, procurement, software licensing, contract negotiation and asset lifecycle.
• Train and mentor property teams on digital tools, promoting digital literacy and effective use of technology.
