Flight Nurse – Critical Care Transport

About the role

The Flight Nurse provides critical‑care nursing in an air‑medical environment, transporting patients safely from the scene to definitive care. Leveraging ICU or Emergency Department experience, the nurse follows Mercy Flight Central (MFC) standards and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in shift crew briefings and complete company time sheets accurately.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑flight aircraft inspections to ensure medical and safety equipment cleanliness and operability.
• Deliver patient care according to MFC “Standards of Care” and NYSDOH guidelines, including advanced procedures under online medical control.
• Document patient care, collect flight reimbursement information, and complete physician order sheets.
• Maintain proficiency through company training programs and meet quarterly skills requirements.
• Attend 100% of company meetings and engage in quality‑management activities.
• Perform general housekeeping of work areas and ensure equipment readiness.

Required profile

• Current RN license with recent ICU or Emergency Department experience.
• Ability to perform advanced airway and invasive procedures under medical control.
• Commitment to 100% attendance at meetings and adherence to quarterly skill assessments.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to follow company policies and NYSDOH regulations.
