Grid Works Project Manager – 12‑18 month contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Grid Works Project Manager to join our team on a 12‑18 month fixed‑term contract in Manfredonia, Apulia. The role is site‑based and focuses on delivering all grid connection activities for a major renewable energy project, ensuring safe, timely and compliant execution across the transmission system operator (TSO) substation, user step‑up substation, MV and HV cable routes, and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the client representative and site manager for all grid works, coordinating with the Project Manager, Grid Manager, EPC contractor and network operators.
• Develop, monitor and integrate the grid works programme into the overall project schedule, managing equipment lead times, outage windows and construction activities.
• Identify delivery risks, maintain the grid‑related risk register and implement mitigation plans.
• Serve as the primary liaison with TSO, Terna, e‑distribuzione and permitting authorities, chairing contractor progress meetings and preparing project reports.
• Coordinate technical submissions, approvals and ensure compliance with Italian regulations, specifications and contractual requirements.
• Oversee on‑site construction, inspections, testing and hold points for HV and MV infrastructure, verifying contractor performance and supporting payment milestone verification.
• Promote a strong safety culture and support the Project HSE Manager in health, safety and quality activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing grid connection projects in the renewable energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of Italian grid regulations, TSO processes and HV/MV infrastructure.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with utilities, EPC contractors and authorities.
• Ability to lead on‑site teams, monitor progress against milestones and manage project risks.
