Head Sommelier – Luxury Alpine Resort

About the role

The Head Sommelier will be the custodian of Aman Rosa Alpina’s wine culture, overseeing the complete wine programme across all food‑and‑beverage outlets, private dining experiences and bespoke guest events. Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, the role blends deep technical wine expertise with a genuine hospitality mindset to create highly personalised, memorable experiences for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Curate, develop and continuously refine the hotel’s wine collection, ensuring a balanced portfolio across price points, styles and regions.
• Source exceptional wines from established suppliers and discover emerging producers, building a cellar that reflects Italian heritage and top international regions.
• Maintain an accurate, commercially balanced and seasonally relevant wine list, including rare and limited‑allocation wines.
• Deliver personalised wine consultations, recommend pairings, and lead wine service with elegance and discretion.
• Conduct wine tastings, masterclasses and bespoke cellar experiences for guests.
• Manage daily wine operations across restaurants, bars, private events and in‑room dining, ensuring service exceeds Aman luxury standards.
• Monitor stock levels, coordinate purchasing, supervise storage conditions and maintain strict inventory controls.
• Achieve beverage revenue targets while controlling costs, and develop premium wine initiatives and promotions.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of global and Italian wines, with a passion for discovering unique labels.
• Proven experience in a senior sommelier or wine‑programme leadership role within a luxury hospitality setting.
• Strong leadership skills to develop and mentor a sommelier team.
• Excellent communication and guest‑service orientation, aligned with Aman’s philosophy of intuitive hospitality.
