Humanitarian Affairs Officer – People on the Move Project

About the role

The Humanitarian Affairs Officer will support the People on the Move project in Agrigento, contributing to the analysis of the humanitarian context, security situation, and health needs. The role works closely with the Management Coordination Team to shape advocacy strategies and improve the humanitarian and human‑rights situation for people arriving or transiting through Italy.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and research data on local and international security, medical, nutritional and humanitarian issues.
• Support the Country Coordinator and Project Coordinator in analysing collected data to inform programme orientation.
• Assist in defining advocacy strategies in line with MSF policies and values.
• Coordinate with the local health authority (ASP) and other stakeholders to ensure timely access to primary health care, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health services.
• Contribute to the identification of specific vulnerabilities among adults and minors.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian contexts, preferably with exposure to health or migration projects.
• Ability to work flexibly across different locations as project needs evolve.
• Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and decision‑making support.
• Understanding of MSF’s principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality.
