Integration and Start‑Up Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Integration and Start‑Up Engineer to join its semiconductor equipment team in Treviso, Italy. The role focuses on integrating complex systems, ensuring they meet technical specifications, quality standards and project timelines, and supporting customers through installation and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Support full system integration from prototype to final installation, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Perform functional, operational and system‑level testing, including calibration, verification and troubleshooting of sub‑assemblies and complete systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, optical and process‑related issues using schematics, diagrams and technical documentation.
• Execute in‑house Customer Acceptance Tests and contribute to validation activities.
• Travel to customer sites to support installation, start‑up, commissioning and provide technical assistance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and NPI teams to develop, build and test new prototype, alpha and beta units.
• Evaluate system performance, conduct rework, support root‑cause analysis and generate Quality Notifications.
• Prepare and maintain accurate test reports, logbooks and procedures in line with company standards.

Required profile

• Solid technical work experience in system integration, testing and commissioning within a high‑tech manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities across electrical, mechanical, optical and process domains.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with international teams and communicate technical information clearly.
• Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 25% of the time) for trainings and installations.
