Junior Network Engineer

About the role

Join MainStreaming’s Infrastructure team in Milan to support the continuous innovation of our global streaming platform. As a Junior Network Engineer you will assist in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining network devices, connections, and routing protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network infrastructure quality and respond to alarms.
• Analyze traffic, troubleshoot performance issues, and resolve routing or device problems.
• Support WAN design using OSPF, BGP, and IS‑IS, and assist with MPLS/VPLS environments.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls, including Cisco equipment.
• Optimize network connections and BGP routing, and contribute to capacity planning.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network setups and procedures.
• Create basic scripts for monitoring and analysis.
• Provide on‑call support as needed.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6) and routing protocols OSPF, BGP, IS‑IS.
• Hands‑on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches.
• Basic BASH/Shell scripting and familiarity with Linux command‑line tools.
• Experience with network monitoring utilities and custom scripts.
• Understanding of MPLS/VPLS and WAN design concepts.
