Junior Project Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Junior Project Engineer to join its engineering team in Italy. The role offers the chance to work on rail projects from the bid phase through to final delivery, supporting product design, verification and validation in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, monitor and coordinate engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from bid to delivery.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure compliance with requirements, regulations, standards, budget, schedule and quality targets.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including technical proposals, engineering plans, design review reports and Product Data Sheets.
• Support the Quotation Manager by providing accurate product cost data and ensure timely submission of System Requirements Specifications for supplier engagement.
• Maintain the Requirements Traceability Matrix and manage requirements throughout the project, supported by the Requirements Engineer.
• Act as the primary technical interface with customers, delivering verified project documentation and conducting design reviews.
• Monitor project progress, report performance, identify technical risks and opportunities, and escalate issues as needed.
• Liaise with Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Certification and Safety departments to ensure successful project delivery.
