Junior Web Frontend Developer

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Junior Web Frontend Developer to join its globally distributed team. You will design, implement and maintain modern web interfaces using JavaScript, CSS, React and Flutter, working remotely from anywhere in the world.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement well‑tested, documented frontend components for Canonical’s enterprise products.
• Debug and resolve issues reported by users.
• Participate in code and architectural reviews as part of the engineering process.
• Collaborate with community members and colleagues on technical specifications.
• Contribute to technical documentation and improve engineering practices.
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
• Advocate for the product’s technical direction within the organization.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Passion for open‑source software and cutting‑edge web technologies.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Willingness to engage with the broader open‑source community.
