Lead Backend Engineer – Consumer Growth

About the role

As the Lead Backend Engineer for Consumer Growth, you will shape the technical direction of the team, own the quality and delivery of complex services that power the Satispay consumer experience, and drive innovation across payment flows, identity verification, loyalty and engagement features.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate backend services from API design to production rollouts, covering payments, identity and loyalty.
• Lead cross‑team technical analysis, drive design discussions and produce clear documentation for stakeholders.
• Raise engineering quality by establishing testing strategies, safe progressive rollouts and reducing technical debt in a system handling over 2 M daily payments.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers, guiding them on event‑driven patterns, cross‑service dependencies and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with product, mobile and other engineering teams while maintaining ownership from start to finish.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of backend software engineering experience, preferably in high‑pace, mission‑critical environments.
• Deep expertise with Java and Spring Boot and a solid understanding of distributed systems.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and coordinate implementations across multiple teams.
• Impact‑oriented mindset, focused on delivering user‑centric solutions and continuously optimizing systems.
• Passion for FinTech and fluency in English.
