Local Purchasing Lead – Direct Materials (Torino)

About the role

We are seeking a Local Purchasing Lead to oversee all direct‑material purchasing activities for our Connection Systems plant in Torino. The role sits within the EMEA Supply Chain Management Operations team and acts as the primary interface between internal stakeholders, the SCM Category Team, and external suppliers. You will ensure purchasing processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with regional procurement strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Aptiv purchasing on direct‑material topics for internal and external partners.
• Participate early in new product launches, business transfers, engineering changes, and cost‑reduction projects.
• Monitor material performance KPIs, prepare management reports and lead the annual material budgeting process.
• Maintain accurate ERP purchasing data and support plant operations in resolving supplier delivery issues.
• Manage blocked invoices in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support indirect purchasing activities when required and ensure compliance with Aptiv policies and legal requirements.
• Additional duty: act as Country Fleet Manager, coordinating company‑car requirements with the EMEA indirect purchasing organization.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or a comparable field.
• 2–3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication, analytical, negotiation and project‑management abilities.
• Structured, proactive and independent working style with high commitment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with QAD / MFGPro ERP systems.
• Experience using SAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
